Congratulations to the High School band for a great UIL marching season. After making a 1st division at UIL regional marching competition on October 21st, the band advanced to compete on Saturday, October 25th in Longview for the "UIL Area-C 4A Contest". There were 22 4A high school bands from all over East Texas and our Royal Blue Band finished 11th, making Shepherd history in the process. No other Shepherd marching band has ever been ranked this high in area marching.
The band has one more contest on November 1st to cap off a great competition season. Good luck band and congratulations again on your UIL success!

Mon. Oct 27 Wear Red "Drug Free Starts With Me"
Tues. Oct 28 Wear Crazy Socks/Shoes "Drugs Are Ridiculous"

Tuesday, November 11th, the Shepherd High School NHS will hold their 7th annual 'Walk for our Warriors' Walkathon to raise money that helps out the FAITH military support group. FAITH is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support members of our local community who are serving in harm's way overseas. FAITH sends care packages every fall, full of as many comforts from home as possible. The money NHS students raise goes to help offset the cost of packaging and postage. Having been at war in one place or another for over 13 years, it can be easy to forget the sacrifices our military are facing daily, so we'd love to have a huge turnout this year. Get your team together now & contact Mrs. Peden at ext. 2997 or or for more information. Some things to remember: we'll be walking beginning at 3:45pm on that day at the Pirate Stadium track, so you must wear tennis shoes only; you can gather donations and walk as one person or as a team; all money gathered in advance will be turned in to Mrs. Peden, Mrs. Nix or Mrs. Gallmeier at the start of the walkathon and pledges based on laps will be turned in on Wednesday the 12th.
